GP Partners

DR CLAIRE HART

Partner - MBBS, MRCGP, DCCH, DFSRH, Loc S.D.I studied at St Bartholemew's and Royal London Medical School and qualified in 2004.

Claire has two children and is a water polo player in her spare time. She is also interested in gardening and is keen to develop our garden here at Chagford Health Centre with some tomatoes, strawberries and in the future some fruit bushes.

GP Retainer

DR PETER WOOD

MBE, MB, ChB, MRCGP, DRCOG, DCCH, DPD, Dip/IMC (RCS Edin) DA (UK), Cert PG Med Ed.

Qualified in 1983 and joined the practice in 1995, having previously served in the RAMC and worked as a GP in Australia. He is married with three daughters. He is a GP trainer, GP appraiser and medical student teacher (Exeter University Medical school), Honorary Fellow, examiner and academic tutor Exeter University Medical School. Interests include Bridge, cycling, long distance walking and gardening.

Nurses

Our Practice Nurses are available Monday/Thursday/Friday mornings and Tuesday afternoons. They are available by appointment for dressings, removal of sutures, ear syringing, well person/new patient checks and advice. They run a vaccination clinic for children and travel and perform cervical smears. Karen Ross Fowler runs  our Diabetic clinic with follow up from the patients GP. Mandy Sterrett and Karen Ross Fowler run our COPD/Asthma clinics and Hypertensive clinic. They are also available for any advice on weight, diet and healthy living. Please contact the surgery on 01647 433320 and ask for an appointment.

Mandy works in Surgery on Monday/Thursday/Friday mornings from 0830-1230

KAREN ROSS-FOWLER

Karen works in the surgery on Tuesdays 1400-1800 and Thursdays 0830-1300

Healthcare Assistants

MONICA ROBERTS

Monica is available for blood tests, blood pressure monitoring, weight advice, wound dressings, ear syringing, flu vaccinations, B12 injections and ECG's. Monica works 2 mornings (Mondays and Fridays). Please call on 01647 433320 for an appointment. Monica also offers free NHS Health Checks to people aged between 40 and 74 once every five years.

SAM HILL

Sam works on works on a Wednesday all day for phlebotomy, ECG's, flu vaccinations, Blood Pressure and NHS Health Checks

Practice Management

JUDI FOWLER

Practice Manager

The Practice Manager is responsible for the smooth running of the practice and she will be happy to hear your views and suggestions about the services offered by the practice.

Administration

We have four Practice Service Administrators Coral, Amy, Eva Gill who are trained to help with your enquiries, whether it is making an appointment with one of the doctors or any other member of the primary health care team or repeat prescriptions. To help them deal with your enquiry efficiently they may need to ask questions; anything that you say will be treated in absolute confidence. The rules of confidentiality apply to all members of the team.

Community Midwives

We have a small team of attached Midwives who allow us to offer complete personal maternity care in your own home. Together with the same team of midwives, care in labour and delivery can be offered at Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital or, in carefully selected cases at home.

Community Nurses

We have a team of Community Nurses attached to the practice who are led by a senior qualified district nurse. Their aim is to deliver appropriate levels of nursing care in your own home.

Health Visitors

We have a team of Public Health Visitor's who are attached to the Practice and carry out development checks and hearing tests. They can be contacted at any time at the District Hosptital, Okehampton on 01837 658026.

ANDY MARSHALL

First Contact Physio

Andy qualified in 2009 as a physiotherapist from Southampton University. Prior to this in 2004 he completed his first degree in Sports Rehabilitation at St. Mary’s London. Andy has completed a range of post graduate training including; the management of spinal and shoulder pain, treatment of running injuries with gait analysis, study of Manual Therapy in Western Australia and gaining his Acupuncture qualification.

CATHY DAY

Dietician

Cathy has 8 years NHS dietetic experience working in a number of specialisms including paediatrics (allergy, slow weight gain, weight management and fussy eating), oncology, weight management and gastroenterology including IBS. Cathy has worked in several different areas with specialists in different fields.

DAVE STEPHENSON

Physiotherapist

Dave qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from the University of Plymouth in 2007. He has predominantly worked in the NHS since. After completing his Junior rotations between the RD&E and South Devon Healthcare Trust he soon specialised in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. He qualified as an Acupuncturist in 2009. In 2013 he completed his MSc qualification in Injection Therapy. He has worked in Extended Scope Roles for the Hip, Knee, Upper Limb and Emergency Medicine. Dave has been working as a Musculoskeletal First Contact Practitioner (FCP) for the last three years and has completed his MSc qualifications through the University of Essex. In his spare time Dave is a keen runner and is the Chairman of Moretonhampstead Trials Motorcycle Club. You may have seen Dave on his bike at Moretonhampstead Carnival. Dave is a long-term sufferer of an Equestrian wife and Dad of two brilliantly energetic children.
